Warehouse Management Systems

The era of manual warehouse operations is drawing to a close—with good reason. No matter how efficient your employees are, managing space and maintaining inventory with ad-hoc spreadsheets, paper-based operations, or legacy systems doesn’t provide the accuracy, or visibility, into the supply chain that your managers need to succeed. Today, as businesses of all sizes grow in sophistication, they are turning to best-of-breed  warehouse management systems (WMS) in an effort to reduce costs and boost productivity in the face of increased globalization, regulation and competition.

For too long, leading warehouse management systems have seemingly been within the reach of only large third-party distributors, or national and international manufacturers and retailers. No more. To stay competitive, mid-sized and small businesses increasingly are turning to best-of-breed warehouse management systems that effectively reduce costs and streamline daily operations, enabling even the smallest companies to adapt quickly to changing market demands.

The days when leading warehouse management systems were available only to large, top-tier retailers and distributors are over. Many small distributors are now turning to best-of-breed warehouse management systems to attain the cost reduction and streamlined operations required to respond to dynamic market demands and maintain competitive advantage.

Feel free to speak to us at The RIC Group as we have over 12 years deploying cost effective warehouse solutions for small to medium businesses Australia and New Zealand wide. Not only that a lot of the customers we have worked with from 12 years ago are still our customers today.

Scan Packing 4 MYOB EXO

Over the last twelve months we have a large amount of enquries about our Scan Packing solution which integrates with MYOB EXO. We have also have a large number of MYOB EXO customers using our Scan Packing software which is vital to their operation.

The scan packing software allows users to barcode scan items to check that the right items are being packed for the order. It is definitely a great entry level product when businesses want to introduce barcoding into the warehouse operations.

Our scan packing software has been implemented in many different variations with MYOB EXO and so I thought I would give you a couple of the variations our package offers. Firstly our scan packing software is written by The RIC Group and therefore customers can have complete confidence that if change requests are needed then we have the ability to do so where necessary.

A lot of the time we simply implement our scan packing software off the shelf. This allows us to offer a very cost effective solution to our customers which gives the ability to use barcode scanners and print logistic and EDI labels for cartons. The SSCC and EDI requirements are printed on the label and the SSCC number is passed back into MYOB EXO for the Advanced Shipper Notice (ASN). Our scan packing software also has complete integration with eParcel which is used for Australia POST. All consignment numbers are created and printed on the label and the file is passed back to Australia POST for end of day processing.

Another scenario our customers will implement is they will use our EXO4PDA product to complete the scan picking process and have this information passed to our scan packing software. This allows the user at despatch to double check what has been picked and enter information such as which goods have been packed into which box. This information captured can be viewed by the operations manager at any time if there are enquires from customers to ask which stage in the process their order is up too. The double check can be a great way to capture information on which staff member has picked the order and which staff member has packed the order. Our scan packing solution can capture what time the order was picked and what time the order was packed and this information is passed into MYOB EXO where necessary. This allows management to have the ability to produce KPI's on the warehouse team and see exactly what is happening in the warehouse operations.

There are several of our MYOB EXO clients who need to capture the weight of items at point of pack. There are situations where customers order by number of packs but the MYOB EXO user needs to invoice their customer by weight. Therefore the sales team enters into MYOB EXO the quantities per item per sales order. It is released to our scanning pick and pack solution and the user scans the barcode of the product. The barcode will have the weight of the item and can also have the batch code. Our scanning solution will decode the weight and batch number behind the scenes and increment the scans as per normal on the screen. It will show the user how what the quantity is they have picked for each item. However, when the information is sent back to MYOB EXO each item will now have the correct weight. It will also include batch codes and expiry dates where necessary. The sales team can then produce the invoice for each customer by weight. The best part about the solution is the MYOB EXO user can still see the orginal quantity ordered by each customer if there is an enquiry.

Also note our scan picking and packing solution integrates with SAP B1 with exactly the same functionality. As we know with over 12 years experience warehouse operations don't vary due to which ERP the customer is using.
