Pearl Traders give TRG A+ for customer service

Pearl Traders has been a customer of The RIC Group's for approximately 8 years. Pearl Traders recently upgraded their PC environment to Windows 10 and use MYOB Premier. They called The RIC Group to get an upgrade of their Labels4 and Stocktake4 software. SBO4 Cloud supports multipliers for MYOB AR Live

SBO4 Cloud for MYOB AccountRight Live now supports multipliers. This means that clients who have inner and outer barcodes are now supported. This feature gives the users the ability to scan an outer barcode and for the QTY Scanned to be multiplied in any of the applications.

For example if the user was scan picking a carton, and the multiplier for this particular product was set in MYOB AcccountRight Live as 10, then each scan will increase the Quantity Picked by 10 i.e. 20, 20, 30, 40.

In another example, the user may setup the multiplier as 15 for the item number ABC123 in MYOB AccountRight Live. Then during the stocktake application each time the user scans the item ABC123 the quantity counted will increment to 15, 30, 45 and so on.

This feature increases the efficiency when completing the functions of scan pick and pack, goods receiving, and stocktaking.

These are the features that are expected when you implement a best of breed warehouse management solution. This is what The RIC Group delivers to its customers.

Auswest Meats save hours stocktaking with SBO4 Cloud

Auswest Meats needed to take a deep look at its business software needs - and MYOB AccountRight Live with The RIC Group’s Warehouse Management Solution came out on top.

Background
Auswest Meats is a WA owned and operated business that specialises in supplying Australia’s finest export quality meats to discerning customers.
Auswest Meats is a boutique meat wholesale company founded by Brett Nottle in 2011 with the aim to “Supply the best, with the best”. Brett came from a farming and production background and has an excellent understanding of what qualities to look for in an animal to guarantee that our customers receive products of only the best eating quality.

The Problem
It was time for the next phase of growth

The wholesale meat market is ultra-competitive and it was time to ensure growth for the future with implementing a Warehouse Management Solution for MYOB AccountRight Live.
Auswest Meats actually attempted to try to use a product specific for their industry. However, it proved to be cumberstone and the warehouse scanning didn’t seem to be integrated or have ease of use.
There were some unique complexities to consider. Each carton is random weight and a barcode standard needed to be introduced. With vast knowledge of barcodes and the food industry, The RIC Group was the right supplier.

The Solution

Auswest Meats called The RIC Group asking for recommendations on which Accounting Solution they should use to allow for barcode scanning and implement an integrated warehouse management solution. Brett Nottle the Managing Director of Auswest Meats spoke with Paul Ellis from The RIC Group and the recommendation was to go with MYOB AccountRight Live with SBO4 PDA a total solution.

From a business perspective, Auswest Meats are back to using the familiarity of MYOB and the staff feel a lot more confident knowing how to use the system.

The RIC Group’s warehouse management solution dealt with the complexity of the GS-1 128 barcodes with ease and allows the warehouse users to scan products for the processes of scan picking, goods receiving and stocktaking. All random weights are captured by the software and then consolidated by The RIC Group’s WMS when posting the transactions into MYOB AccountRight Live.

Having stocktaking integration has allowed Auswest Meats a saving of at least 2 days each time they stocktake. The old process was a manual count of all random weights of each product and then adding these up via a calculator. This would take days to complete and was fraught with error. The SBO4 PDA solution now allows the Auswest Meats team to easily stocktake any item at any time with absolute confidence.

Brett states that “The solution was cost effective and implementation was immediate. We now have a solid foundation for growth and the ability to do stocktakes so easily and quickly has given us great belief that the stock on hand count in MYOB is completely accurate. RF Guns vs Android Smartphones for picking and warehouse operations.

An RF Gun is a rugged enterprise device such as a Zebra MC 67 or Intermec CK 3.

One of the questions that we get asked a lot of the time is, couldn't I just use a phone device to do the same thing with the camera or a Bluetooth scanner?

Here are some points to take into account when making a decision:

A professional barcode scanner works 2 - 4 times faster than a mobile phone, since a smartphone takes a lot of time focusing and identifying the barcode.
RF PDA units have integrated barcode scanners with many years of proven experience working in the field. This means they will scan barcodes in conditions such as poor lighting, dirt / dust and other obstacles.
The ability to scan 2D barcodes and have all barcode formats readable. This means barcode formats such as GS-1, to UPC, to SSCC, to ITF-14 and to Code 128 and Code 39 will all scan with an RF Gun.
You can work with gloves while using a professional RF scanner.
Most RF guns are protecte from drops and are water resistant. Most RF guns are IP 65 rated. Let's face it, you drop a phone or tablet the screen will break.
It is simply more comfortable to hold a PDA unit and use it continuously for a few hours, while the same is not necessarily true about mobile phones. Also, accessories such as pistol grips, belt clips are standard with an RF gun type unit.
Flexibility of operating systems offered by an RF Gun unit. Most RF gun units now have the option to come in Windows Mobile or Android.

The majority of our customers who have implemented rugged RF scanners get a return of investment on each unit for approximately five years. There is no doubt that an iOS or Android phone are cheaper, but the total cost of ownership will always be more over a five year period due to costly repairs and breakages. This is why you see Zebra and Honeywell coming out with devices that run the Android environment, as the rugged device is the only type of device which will stand up to the warehouse environment.
